It all started quite simply. Not far from one woman’s house, crows chose a tree and began to disturb her with their constant cawing. At first she tried to scare them away by throwing sticks and stones, but this had no effect. As a result, the woman had to keep the windows closed.
One day she noticed a crow on the balcony of her apartment. Opening the balcony door, she threw a handful of peanuts to the bird. The crow grabbed the treat and flew away.
This was repeated several times, but one day, instead of throwing the peanuts, the woman simply closed the curtains. The crow flew away, but soon returned, bringing with it several coins. Thus began the unusual story of the relationship between a woman and a crow. She started a blog where she began sharing stories about what crows brought her as thanks for the peanuts.
The list of “gifts” was varied: bird feathers, small metal objects, various pebbles, acorns and colored glass. What was especially pleasant was that the crows began to bring money, and quite a lot.
Initially, the woman posted photos of the coins she had collected during the day, but then she was told that there could be legal consequences for this. She deleted all the photos with the money, although copies of them can still be found online.
Despite some people’s skepticism about the «payment» for food story, many studies confirm that crows have rudimentary intelligence comparable to that of a seven-year-old child and may well understand the essence of the exchange.
